Rebel Diaz

Trying to reclaim Hip Hop as an informational tool Rebel Diaz is here to set a new standard for up and coming hip hop artists. Their name comes from the Spanish term for “rebellion”, which fits for the changes they’re trying to bring to the genre, by mixing models of activism with their originally inspired music.

Their influences are artists who use music to spread messages, to tell stories about the communities they come from. Hip Hop has shifted and Rebel Diaz wish to bring the values that Hip Hop was built on, back to contemporary music.

Basilisa Alonso sits down with RodStarz and DJ Illanoiz of Rebel Diaz, to discuss their movement and the importance of starting it in the Bronx.
