The annual Tribeca Family Film Festival stretched more than 10 blocks long on April 26th and offered free film screenings, a walkthrough of celebrity movie trailers, and sporting events. There was an activity for every member of the family. The Studios BackLot featured celebrity movie trailers, action camera vehicles, steadicam and green screen demonstrations, and a Kidz Block Party.

“I’ve been here since the first festival,” said Katie Sissom. “It’s a really great neighborhood event. It’s a little bit different every year. My daughter loves the sports.”

Writer and a photographer Jonathan Steinberg said he was having a fabulous time. “My offspring is enjoying writopia lab.”

The first few years of the event were an effort to revive the area after 9/11 said Katie Sissom. “Scholastic used to have a tent. They would have people reading stories to children,” she said. “One year Robin Williams read a story book and my son was sitting in the front row and laughed his head off. It’s a memorable moment. I remember the book he read.”
