Artist William P. Folchi

Artist William P. Folchi was a Bronx resident all his life. The paintings featured in the William P. Folchi: Bronx Scenes 1955-1965 exhibit represent his vision of the borough, particularly of Morris Park. Folchi, who was a mechanic by trade, painted all of the scenes on site. Some of his works, he did from his attic window.

For current and past Bronx residents, the paintings reveal how many blocks have changed over the years, along with a few that remain the same. Both of Folchi’s sons are Lehman College alumni. His son William discovered the body of work, about 100 paintings, when cleaning out the family basement. The exhibit can be seen in the Leonard Lief Library on the Lehman College campus from December 4 thru January 9, 2013.
