A Bronx Cheer for Cruz Campaign Stop

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz did not attract much of a crowd during a campaign stop in the Bronx on April 6th. The senator attended a meet and greet with constituents at Sabrosura 2, a local restaurant in the Soundview section of the Bronx.

Cruz, who was fairly low key during the event, wasn’t too well received. He was met by a few hecklers, who didn’t agree with many of his policies, one of whom shouted he wanted religious freedom and believes the senator doesn’t want that for America.

Not letting that deter him, Cruz, managed to throw a few jabs at his opponent Donald Trump, claiming he isn’t ready for office, has no solutions to the problems facing the U.S. and that if we want to know what liberal democratic values are, follow Trump’s checkbook.

Cruz supporter Henry Grullon said he believes in Cruz. “He has a proven track record in the Senate,” said Grullon. “He means well and will be a great president.”

Asked about how he plans on replacing Obamacare if he does repeal it, Cruz sidestepped the question, saying he wants healthcare affordable for Americans again.

Before leaving the Bronx, the senator had a few words for the Hispanic community, “We can have greater opportunity, we can have better jobs,” he said. “If elected president, I will make sure we take the burden off of small businesses and make communities like this better.”
