Lily Kwong’s Love Letter to Asian Horticulture

The Orchid Show: National Heritage is on at the New York Botanical Garden. Photos by Lenny Almanzar.

The show by Lily Kwong is her love letter to Asian horticulture. Kwong is a Chinese landscape designer who works at the junction of horticulture and deals with urban design, climate awareness and urban agriculture.

Wong was the designer for the annual orchid show at the NYBG for its 20th year.

Wong's homage to Chinese agriculture was a stark contrast to urban New York City.

Aside from the orchids, there was a large emphasis on water and statues.

These orchids were of the Phalaenopsis family which is usually located in Southeast Asia and a lot of the orchids in the event were from this group.

The show runs through April 23.
