Snake on the Lam

Here are some of the opinions of Lehman College staff and students about the missing six-foot-long venomous Egyptian cobra that escaped from the Bronx Zoo on March 27th.

“I just think that it’s pretty funny that snakes can escape from the Bronx Zoo,” said Simon Rogghe,26, a Lehman teacher in the Department of Language and Literature. The snake is probably more scared of the people than the people would be of the snake, even if it is a cobra.”

” Thank God I don’t live in the Bronx. I’d probably freak out if I were to see that snake chilling in my room,” said Dorothy Falcon, a sophomore student. “I’m so glad Westchester County is far far far away from here.”

“The zoo keepers need to get the snake caught for everyone’s safety. It’s scary to think something like that can happen,” said junior Rosaline Ayala. “So many people go to the zoo daily. All those little kids–I can’t imagine what they would do if they saw it slithering around somewhere.”

“I think they should release more Cobras into the city to make people’s commute more exciting,” said Francisco Breton a junior.

“I go to that McDonalds [around the Bronx Zoo] often,” said sophomore Kadeem Grant. “I would not like to see a cobra with my fries. That’s not cool.”

“I’d wait for it to get hungry. Its not like its going to eat a tiger or something its just going to come out looking for food and then they’d be able to catch it,” said sophomore Alex Linde.
