Renaissance EMS

“Over 70 percent of public schools in the Bronx don’t have music programs.” This is a problem mentioned by Co-Executive Director of Renaissance EMS, Bervin Harris who looks to change that statistic.

At risk youth teens who have a stigma of causing trouble and disrespecting authority are looked at from society as a lost cause.  Bervin Harris wants to show teenagers in a positive light by promoting positive messages in his students. From moral values to academic achievement, career development, and independent qualities like cooking. To inspire students and keep them involved Mr. Harris uses music to establish a connection that incorporates academic learning with individual growth.
